Making it tangible.
In every sense.
From our turbines that power production to the way an order reaches your door, sustainability runs through every stage.
We align our work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and use innovation, in how we manufacture, source and ship, to help our customers meet their own sustainability targets, not just ours.

Peleman Hospitality UK operates independently, and shares the same values and manufacturing ethos as Peleman Industries NV in Belgium.
How we put the Global Goals into practice
It starts with how we make things. Everything at Peleman is made to order, not pulled from a shelf. This is lean manufacturing, a principle pioneered by Toyota in the 1940s: build only what's needed, when it's needed. No overproduction, no waste, no warehouse full of stock nobody's bought. Peleman Industries has been successfully operating a lean manufacturing process for over 40 years, and the principle is the same throughout: eliminate waste, not eliminate speed. The trade-off is that made to order takes longer. We make that trade deliberately, because it's the most direct way we keep our promise on sustainability.
Less overproduction means less material waste. Less stock sitting unsold means nothing gets written off or scrapped. Every piece is made to your exact specification, using green energy, without the added cost a bigger warehouse would carry. It also means we're not paying for storage, or the energy needed to regulate humidity and provide security for stock sitting unsold, costs that would otherwise be built into your price.
The five goals below aren't a separate initiative, they're what this way of working adds up to.
Our Five Global Goals
The goals most closely aligned with the way we operate.
Leadership, reflected
Peleman is led by CEO Esmeralda Peleman. We build every team on a genuine mix of strengths, matched to what the work actually needs.

Peleman has provided stable, long-term employment for more than eight decades. Knowledge sharing keeps work varied and genuinely enjoyable.

90% of what we make is patented, engineered here. Our dry gluing system removes harmful adhesives from production entirely.

A 2016 covenant with Puurs, a stabilised local grid, and products made using power from our own turbines.
READ MORE →Made to last
Made once, used for years, not reprinted every time a price changes.
READ MORE →Leadership, reflected
Peleman is led by Esmeralda Peleman, our CEO. Inspiring leadership at Peleman has always meant a mix of experience, perspectives and talent, and that starts at the top. That same thinking runs through the business. PACS colour profiles, the balance of drive, precision, communication and stability a person brings, are built into hiring, sales training and everyday work training, so every team is built with the right mix of strengths matched to what the job actually needs. That balance shows up in the work itself: gaps get covered, and a team that catches what a less varied group would overlook. As Maya Angelou put it, people will forget what you said and did, but never how you made them feel, a line that guides how we treat our own people, and it's the same care that shapes how we treat every customer order.
Stable, long term
Peleman has provided stable, long-term employment for more than eight decades, growing to 180 employees across 4 offices in 120 countries. Knowledge sharing runs through the business, colleagues learning from each other and passing on experience, which keeps work varied and genuinely enjoyable, much more than a salary. That's the same thinking behind our PACS approach to hiring, carried through into how people grow here. For our customers, that stability means consistency: the same experienced teams handling your order, work you can rely on, and a supplier whose own commitment to decent work supports your own procurement and sustainability standards.
Innovation, built in
We design and build key parts of our production machinery ourselves, rather than relying solely on off-the-shelf equipment, and 90% of what we make is patented, engineered here from the ground up. That same instinct shapes how we protect our own people: our dry gluing system removes harmful adhesives from the production environment altogether, a safer way of working most manufacturers haven't adopted. For customers, that means products built on genuine engineering advances, not just design choices, and a supplier whose innovation serves people as much as products.
Local, long term
In 2016, our Belgian factory signed a sustainability covenant with the municipality of Puurs. Its battery stores 2 megawatts, enough to power 200 families for a day, and helps stabilise the local grid. The products we manufacture are made using power from our turbines. This means one thing for you: Peleman is a supplier who can genuinely back your carbon targets, not just talk about them.
Made to last
We use recycled materials, but the bigger point is durability. Our menu covers are designed for long-term use, not a single season. Slide your plain paper straight into our slide-in / clamp system. You save on printing costs every time a price changes and you update a menu, and only the paper needs replacing, not the whole menu.
Why we share this
Buyers across hospitality are being asked, more and more, to show where their suppliers stand on sustainability. Head chefs, procurement teams and general managers now need to answer for the footprint of everything on their table, menu covers included. We publish our progress against the UN Sustainable Development Goals so our customers have a clear, verifiable answer when they're asked, and so choosing Peleman counts towards their own sustainability targets, not just ours.
The customers we work with are on the same journey we are. This isn't us handing down a policy, it's a shared effort, and every order made this way moves both of us further along it.
How we ship
Sustainability follows from our factory floor to your venue with every order.
Green from the factory floor
Every order that leaves our factory is produced on green energy, powered by our own turbines.
Sustainable couriers
We work with courier partners chosen for their environmental commitments, not just their speed.
Sea freight from Belgium
Where timelines allow, we ship by sea rather than air from our Belgium factory, cutting emissions per order.
Our Values & Mission
Our History
Peleman Industries was founded in Puurs, Belgium in 1939, then known as Peleman-Saerens, making ring binders. In 1976, the Scheldt River flooded Puurs and destroyed every facility and product the company had. Carla Lolli joined her husband Guido Peleman to rebuild it from nothing, becoming sole owners in the process. That resilience is still the foundation the business stands on today.
By 1988, the rebuilt company had grown enough to open a new plant and the pyramid-shaped headquarters that still stands in Puurs, inaugurated by the Belgian Prime Minister. In 2021, under the leadership of Esmeralda Peleman, the company introduced its identity around one idea: Make it Tangible, the belief that content and messages that truly matter deserve to be seen, felt and preserved, not lost in a digital scroll.
That story reached the UK on 20 January 2016, when the business was founded here as Unibind UK Ltd. It later rebranded as Peleman Industries Ltd, the name it carries today.
